GILDNIGHT · SCIENCE

A clearer night. An honest picture.

Gildnight brings the signals from your night into one readable morning report. Here is what those signals can—and cannot—tell you.

Your iPhone listens for patterns

Sound and movement help estimate when you settled, slept and woke. Quiet wakefulness can look like sleep. Background noise, another person or a pet can change what your phone hears.

Phone-only sleep stages are estimates based on sound and the usual shape of a night. Still does not mean deep sleep. The app labels estimated stages and shows a likely range for sleep totals read from sound.

Apple Watch adds another view

Wrist movement adds a signal closer to you. With permission, available sleep stages and other overnight readings from Apple Health join your report. The app shows the source and gaps in the night.

Not every Watch records every reading, and some readings may arrive later. A night with missing data is a partial picture.

A wake window, not a promise

The smart alarm looks for a lighter moment inside the window you choose. With Watch first, taps begin the wake-up and the iPhone follows if needed. The full alarm is set no later than your chosen time.

A lighter moment is an estimate. How you feel when you wake depends on more than alarm timing. Gildnight does not promise a groggy-free morning.

Patterns need more than one night

Trends are most useful across several nights. Your own notes can help you notice what goes with a better night. A pattern does not prove that one thing caused another.

Scores and medals make your recorded nights easier to explore. They are personal indicators, not a complete picture of how you feel. Your morning check-in matters too.

The limits stay visible

Gildnight is for everyday sleep awareness. It does not promise exact sleep stages, perfect sound labels or a particular result. The app explains its measures and sources in How Gildnight works.

The interactive night on this website is an illustration. App screenshots use example nights. They are not a promise of your results.
